Going too hard, too soon barefoot running? I know I’m in a category of risk here due to 20 years in orthodics and really enjoying barefoot running. This is a great video with some handy hints on dealing with foot arch pain.

The Basics

Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending a USQ digimarketing workshop with keynote speaker Dr. Ian Fenwick.

It was a practical and refreshing change from the hype that often surrounds the digital marketing and social media market space.

Some of the biggest take-aways for me were:

1. Your business still needs to have a marketing plan. Nothing but the medium and delivery rules have changed. Placing a couple of google ads and building a simple website is no recipe for success on it’s own.

2. You must be prepared to test, measure and manage your digital marketing efforts and investment.

3. SEO rules are changing constantly – find a reputable company to manage your online search engine marketing

4. A good landing page will save you a lot of money. Click-throughs can be bought but people still need to be convinced to part with something. Be it their email address or their money.

5. Advertising on Facebook can cost you half of what google adwords do. Even if it’s 20% less effective, there is still a good saving their if your product and marketing is right.

6. 2/3 of the world still doesn’t have access to the net. That’s considerable.

Multipliers in Leadership

I plan to read this book but in the meanwhile this is a great and insightful talk on the difference between leaders who are MULTIPLIERS and DIMINISHERS.

A couple gems I took away from it were:

The importance of asking the right questions – not necessarily having all the right answers.
The importance of creating healthy discussion and debate – not necessarily being able to make crack-shot decisions.

Touch Screen Technology

Long time no blog post? Yeah, been busy with a new full time job amongst other things, building an amazing new online learning portal that will be merge of social, learning and gaming. A real game-changer for online learning in my opinion.

So I was impressed by this concept video on how touch screen technology may look in the future… It says 2014 but I think it’s most likely something my kids will have around in their tweens. Cool and interesting none-the-less.

Creating iPhone Apps

It’s been a great start to 2010.

I get the feeling that the Sunshine Coast economy is picking up and businesses are making the most of the “New Beginnings” that a fresh calendar year brings. A lot of my clients are bringing fresh ideas and concepts to me. It’s great!

As my web design and graphics business “Brainspace” comes into the new year, we have already started branching out into some new areas. What I am most excited about is creating iPhone Apps.

I’ve just completed one for Pastor Steve Penny who is using the iPhone App to allow people a ‘single click’ into his life and ministry as he travels the globe speaking to churches and leaders.
